I'm Laura, photographer and owner at Willow & Hare. I'm a degree qualified photographer and I've been taking photographs since I was 10 years old. I always get asked, where did the name Willow & Hare come from? Well, my passion for photography started in the countryside, with wildlife and landscapes being my first photographic subject. I always wanted a name that was unique and different, something that wasn't my name. Although I've been taking photographs myself for twelve years, I've also been using photoshop and editing software since I was 9 years old. This means I have extensive knowledge of photo retouching and processing. I would love you to know that your photographs are in safe hands with me.

In August 2016 I opened up my first ever photo studio at the age of 21. I had always dreamed of working for myself and took the dive into business both feet first. Since then, I have began creating memories for people from all over the North East, of their families, children and pets alike. I have a particular fondness of photographing on Whitley Bay beach, which means you can make a day of your photoshoot by visiting the local amusements, chip shops and famous ice-cream parlours. I have a deep-rooted passion for fine art conceptual photography, in which I create Romanticised scenes using dark atmospheric lighting and beautiful vintage dresses which I buy mostly from eBay and second hand stores. If you are interested in my fine art work please send me a message direct to discuss this.

I have lots of reviews and feedback which you can find on my Facebook page here.

Not only do we offer portrait and wedding services, we cover parties, christenings and other events including charity events. I also have a passion for photo restoration which is something I have recently began dabbling in. Our party and event coverage is £200 for three hours. Our photo restoration is dependent on the condition of the photograph.

Name *

Where are you based? I'm based in North Shields, Tyne + Wear, and cover the whole of the North East.

Where do your photoshoots take place? I own a photography studio in a commercial property in North Shields, all of my studio photoshoots take place there. However, on location photoshoots can take place at local parks, beaches and even your own home. My go-to places are Whitley Bay beach and Northumberland Park. However, if your family has a favourite park or place to visit I am more than happy to travel to that location.

How long do photoshoots last? This depends on the package selected. All my photoshoots in the studio are around 30 minutes, unless we are photographing a cake smash or pet in which case it can take around an hour. On location sessions last between 45 minutes and an hour. However, if we need more time, I can arrange this and it's not a problem.

What should I bring with me? Usually, I suggest that you bring a couple of outfits, and maybe some favourite sweeties. If we are on location I suggest bringing sensible weather appropriate clothing just in case. I normally have a supply of baby wipes in the studio just in case, however please bring some along.

Who should come to the studio with me? Only the people in the session, or if it is of you child, please keep it to a maximum of 3 adults. This is because the studio can be quite full and it can distract your child very easily.

What if my child is poorly? If you or your child become poorly, it is essential that you let me know as soon as possible so I can postpone and rearrange your session.

What should we wear? This is completely up to you, however if you are having a high-key white background, I suggest wearing something darker as whites will bleach out. If we are outside, appropriate clothing for the weather.

How many photographs do I receive? I usually present you with around 45-60 photographs from the shoot. You have to purchase digital files, and the prices of collections can be found here.

Are you qualified? Absolutely. I have a degree in photography at a 1st classification. I have been taking photographs since I was 10 years old and went on to study it at college level and degree level. I am 100% confident when photographing your family and children.

Why don't I receive the digital copies unless I purchase them? I think that quality is extremely important, and many of the photographs and prints you get produced by smaller nonprofessional labs will last less time than my professionally printed photographs. You can purchase the digital copies and take them to any high street lab.
